Nick McGhee

Nicholas McGhee is a Barrister-at-Law based in Southport.

Nick is a specialist advocate who has extensive experience practicing exclusively in the
jurisdictions of Criminal Law and Domestic and Family violence for over 20 years.

Nick commenced his career in criminal law with the Office of the Director of Public
Prosecutions (ODPP) after his admission as a Barrister in 2003. By early 2006 he was
conducting criminal jury trials continuing until 2012.

In 2012, Nick spent 12 months conducting inquests as Counsel Assisting the Southport
Coroner, before returning to the ODPP for another 5 years of trial and advocacy work.

In 2017, Nick joined the private bar at Southport and moved exclusively into the areas of
criminal defence along with domestic and family violence matters. 

Nick’s practice involves conducting criminal trials, sentences and appeals ranging from
serious indictable matters in the superior courts, to defending prosecutions in the summary
jurisdiction, as well as appearing on domestic and family violence protection order
applications.
